1958 Porsche Speedster T2 U. S. Delivery car

One of Porsche cars famous speedsters is offered in stunning fresh concours condition. The last year of production in the rare T-2 body configuration and one of the approximately 1130 ever produced for European and the United States market. Here we have a U.S. example with full over rider tube bumpers limiting it to about half the production or one of 565 cars manufactured in a T-2 body. This one is a true survivor with original floors and a pristine body with numbered factory parts being restored not replaced. A very original California car that was completely dismantled and had each individual part restored while a complete bare metal unblemished paint job was applied to the body and an undercoat applied to the underside very thinly to still show all the body manufacturing spot welds and seems from its original construction. The Porsche factory used N.S.F. for their hardware supplier in1958 and the bolts for the car were restored and re-zinc plated or painted as originally delivered and all show the N.S.F. manufacturing initials on the top of them, a true nut and bolt restoration. The engine, transaxle and brakes were all restored to operate as new and score perfectly in competition. See the pictures one piece axle boots with proper factory style clamps, heater box rods with barrel swivels and N.O.S. heater hoses each part restored to show detail. The brakes have all new lines and wheel cylinders on silicon fluid. Brand new Koni shocks were installed when assembling the suspension. The tires are all Michelin XZX and the original Michelin X France manufactured radial is on the spare still looking new. The gas tank pictures show the late 57 date on the lower flange next to the original copper overflow pipe vented through the front apron and the sending unit shows the date on the outer lip, again showing all original dated parts restored. The wheels and hub caps are dated and marked with the name Lemmerz the supplier to the Porsche factory and include the valve stem clips as delivered when new. The headlights, tail lights and turn signals are all N.O.S. and show their correct part numbers. The interior is all leather and trimmed as new with German top and square weave carpeting bound with shaved leather edging. Stock seat brackets rarely seen on speedsters today were restored and show correctly. The steering wheel is a dated Porsche factory offered optional wood V.D.M. wheel. The same company that did the stock steering wheels for the car made these as optional upgrade steering wheels when ordering the car and they both take the same stock horn button. The original wire harness cleaned and detailed remains in the car and is operating as designed on the 6 volt system with no drains and strong bright headlight and tail light illumination as when new. Rarely can you find such an original car in pristine condition that still operates and functions as when new or better with out modern modifications. Restoring the car and all the parts and having everything operational in factory parts from the new link and king pin and full alignment to a turn key car required an extremely high caliber of restoration experts with years of Porsche knowledge specific to 356 model changes and details. The doors and deck lids all open and close with the solid sound inherent to the proper fitting Porsche body, the motor starts with the Porsche key on the old fob that matches the doors. You could easily spend more than I am asking to restore a car in this condition and you would first have to buy a nice example to start with. See the painted cotter pins and grease nipples in the door jambs the black screws on the door striker plates the perfect N.O.S. 1958 grill curved specifically for the speedster deck lid. The picture of the 2 slotted screws and nuts are from the bottom of the original hood pull and are meant to hold a screw driver while tightening or loosening to prevent the threaded stud from being removed and are rarely seen. The Porsche script on the top front of the hood pull is an original unblemished example also the Porsche emblems are originals re-plated gold. An intense correct restoration process has taken place here. If you look for an instant show winner this car is sorted but not driven other than testing miles to ensure only a cleaning away from a concours entry or meant to be delivered in as new condition to someone who wants to drive one as though they bought it new. Original tool kit no reproduction tools original manual, side curtains are in the bag shown in pictures on top of the bag holding the boot. We have had past Porsche parade first in class winner with a previous speedster and no doubt this car is much nicer in both appearance and quality of workmanship.
The car just received first in class in the prestigious Corona del Mar full concours against all Porsche entries and was noted by the judges as being the cleanest among them all.
