1954 Mercedes Benz 300d Cabriolet

Purchased new by a colonel in the US services in 1954 in Paris then shipped it to the states on the Queen Elizabeth where it ended up with his estate. Chassis number 186014-3501930 is the car offered here with original motor number shown as 186920-3501946 you can see the photographs of the documentation pictured below. The car having remained with only one family is very original with no signs of restoration anywhere. The car has only been painted on the outside in certain places and had the motor rebuilt other wise it is a very untouched car other than the mechanical service it had over the years of operation. The body is very straight with no signs of collision damage, all the chrome is original plating and will be beautiful when redone. The glass is in excellent condition all labeled original. The door and window levers are all complete as are the license plate lights along with the back springs armrest and miscellaneous door panel parts. The engine was rebuilt and never ran they told us and is evident from the new gaskets and gasket material we can see along with new belts and with what appears to have included the starter and generator being redone at the same time, it’s very tidy. The motor seems complete and done but the start of a restoration ended there. The car is real stock and very original down to the radio with the emblem. Some surface rust on top of some metal but a super dry car from the desert area with no re-spray to cover any factory paint up, it shows just as it has worn. The frame is fantastic a little surface rust and still showing the factory chassis black paint wearing away Titled to the old California pink slip with several documents showing the owner history this will make for a fabulous collector car when restored and put back on the road. Not very many produced and rarely available as restoration candidates don’t miss this one it may be the last. This will be a fairly simple restoration very straight forward with nice nuts and bolts that look brilliant when re-plated.
